As you may have heard, the City of Toronto has today activated its Emergency Operations Centre in response to the COVID-19 virus. This is a normal next step in view of world events to ensure that the City continues to effectively manage this public health challenge as conditions change. Yesterday, the World Health Organization also elevated the status of COVID-19 to a "Pandemic" classification.
In light of these announcements, and the evolving public health challenge, we have decided out of an abundance of caution to cancel this year's Davenport Easter Egg Hunt.
As you know, the Easter Egg Hunt traditionally brings together a large number of our friends and neighbours and many of the children in our community. With guidance from Public Health directives and in view of the evolving situation, I have reluctantly taken this decision but I am sure you will understand why we need to do so.
The Easter Egg Hunt is a beloved annual community event and we all look forward to having it take place again next year in 2021.
